Privacy Policy

Noodl (“Noodl,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a meal-planning app operated by Hugoniot Labs. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Noodl, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information. When you sign in (including with Sign in with Apple or Google), we receive your email address and, if available, your name. With Sign in with Apple you may choose to hide your email, in which case we receive a private relay address.
- Content you create. Recipes you save or import, weekly meal plans, grocery and shopping lists, cooking history, notes, household and kitchen names, and profile details such as a display name or avatar.
- Photos you submit. If you scan a recipe, dish, fridge, or pantry, the photo is sent to our service so it can be read and turned into recipe or ingredient data. Images you choose to keep (for example, a recipe’s source photos or your profile avatar) are stored so the app can display them.
Information collected automatically
- Activity and search data. We log how you use Noodl — recipes you view, add to your meal plan, cook, and rate; the searches you perform (including the search terms you type); and which features and filters you use. This data is linked to your account and is used to improve the app and to personalize the recipes we recommend to you. It is stored in our own systems; we do not use a third-party analytics or advertising service, and we never use it to track you across other apps or websites.
- Diagnostic data. Device type, app version, and error logs that help us keep the app working.
- Voice input. When you use a voice feature (such as adding groceries or hands-free cook mode), speech is converted to text. Recognition may run on your device or through a speech-recognition service to produce a transcript.
2. How we use your information
- Provide and operate the app — saving recipes, building plans, organizing grocery lists, and syncing your data across your devices and household.
- Generate and parse recipes from links, text, and images, and offer AI planning suggestions.
- Build a shoppable cart with a grocery partner when you choose to send your list (see Section 4).
- Process subscriptions and manage access to paid features.
- Send notifications you’ve enabled (such as a reminder of tonight’s dinner).
- Understand how Noodl is used and personalize the recipes and suggestions we recommend to you.
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve the app’s performance and features.
3. Household sharing
Noodl lets you share a kitchen with another person. When you join or create a household, your shared recipes, meal plan, and grocery list are visible to the other member(s) of that household. Don’t add anyone to your household you don’t want to share this data with.
4. Service providers and third parties
We use a small number of trusted providers to run Noodl. They process data only to provide their service to us:
- Google Firebase — authentication, database, file storage, and hosting.
- Google (Gemini) AI — to read and generate recipes from your text and images.
- RevenueCat, Apple, and Google — to process and manage subscriptions and in-app purchases. Payment card details are handled by Apple or Google and are not collected by us.
- Grocery partners (e.g., Instacart). When you tap to send your list, we transmit only the grocery items you choose to send so the partner can build a cart. Your checkout then happens on the partner’s own site or app under their privacy policy.
- Push notification and speech-recognition services — to deliver notifications and process voice input you initiate.
We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t share it with third parties for their own advertising.
5. Affiliate links
Some links to grocery partners may be affiliate links, which means Noodl may earn a commission when you shop through them — at no additional cost to you. This does not change what data we collect; the items you send are used only to build your cart.
6. Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual content (recipes, plans, list items) at any time in the app, or delete your entire account from Profile → Delete account.
When you delete your account, we delete your profile, avatar, and personal information. Recipes and recipe photos you added to a household you share with others remain available to the other member(s) of that household after your account is deleted.
You can also email us at the address below to request deletion, and we will delete your data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations.
7. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
Noodl is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below. We will respond as required by applicable law.
10. International users
Noodl is operated from the United States, and your information may be processed there or in other countries where our service providers operate. Those locations may have different data-protection laws than your own.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
